The reception of Project Lives catapulted Seeing for Ourselves to the front ranks of participatory photography practitioners worldwide. The new imagery of the NYC housing projects and their residents encouraged the city and state to resume funding of public housing—and led the city to ask us to deliver our programming to New Yorkers on probation.
